Ofsted research programme

Dear Parents/ friends/ Governors

Ofsted research programme – Equalities in schools: Encouraging respect for different sexualities and genders

Last week we had a visit by two Ofsted HMIs (Her Majesty’s inspectors) Marian Thomas and Debbie Redshaw. This was not an inspection. It was a research project to look at how we as a school promote respect for different sexualities and genders. The inspectors met with the leadership team, a governor, teachers and teaching assistants as well as pupils. It was a very useful visit where were able to talk about how important respecting and valuing each other is within the North Ridge community. We also discussed how important it is to use restorative approaches to settling any differences and that adults must be positive role models for our pupils.

I would like to thank the pupils and their families for co-operating with the visit. The letter of thanks is published on our website.
