Welcome to class Discovery!

 

Our teachers are Teresa Roy and Elaine Redpath. There are 17 pupils in our sixth form class. We are based at the North Ridge Hub.

 

Information about what our pupils work towards and the learning they access:

Welcome to Class Discovery, where our focus is on empowering students to become independent, confident young adults. In Class Discovery, students are engaged in a well-rounded curriculum designed to prepare them for life beyond school.

Our students gain valuable, hands-on experience through a dynamic work placement rota at Cup and Cake Café, The Hive, and Second Handmade. These opportunities allow them to apply practical skills in real-world settings, enhancing their confidence and competence in various work environments.

​

In addition to their work experience, students participate in a diverse range of lessons, including catering, horticulture, and manufacturing. Students will also work towards a nationally recognized ASDAN qualification in Personal and Social Development. The topics for this year will be: Making the Most of Leisure Time, Parenting Awareness, and Preparation for Work.
