Headteacher’s introduction

Welcome to North Ridge High School. We are a school that meets the diverse special educational needs of pupils between the ages of 11 and 19. We are a specialist support school for the north district Manchester high schools.

I am very proud to lead this constantly developing and successful school. We have a thriving, challenging, calm and happy environment located with Our Lady’s R.C. High School at the Higher Blackley Education Village. Here our pupils strive to do their best educationally, emotionally and socially in our supportive and caring learning environment.

We have students located on two other sites in the North Manchester area: We have a sixth form provision located on the Abraham Moss Centre for students aged 16 to 19 years where we also have our Cup and Cake Café, Second Hand Made shop and an allotment.

At North Manchester General Hospital we have class Nightingale where our year 14 students work in the hospital as well as learning in the class base.

Pupils are supported by our highly skilled staff to try hard, be aspirational and achieve their personal best in all that they do. We are committed to providing our pupils with a broad, creative and inspiring curriculum within school, the local community and in particular providing very exciting work based learning. Teaching and learning is at the heart of North Ridge, we use every opportunity to help pupils do their best, and more.

We value the support of our parents and carers, recognising their key role in the learning process of their child. With this in mind we provide extensive opportunities in the form of workshops and support to help our families grow in confidence. We also recognise the significant contribution to the on-going development of the school provided by our wide network of community partners, particularly the local employers.

I hope you enjoy exploring our website. We have spent a lot of time designing it in order to meet the needs of our school. We hope it gives you an insight into the type of work we do. Please follow us on Twitter. We also welcome visitors to the school. Please contact us if you require further information.
