Headteacher’s introduction

On behalf of everyone at North Ridge, I am delighted to welcome you to our school, a community special school for pupils aged 11 to 19 years. I am immensely proud to be the head teacher of this amazing school.

North Ridge has 204 pupils on roll and is situated on 3 sites. The main school is co-located with Our Lady’s RC High school at Higher Blackley Education Village. Our sixth form provision (the Hub) is located at Abraham Moss, and we also have a class based at North Manchester General Hospital.

All our pupils have Education Health & Care Plans. Our team of highly skilled teachers and teaching assistants work hard to ensure all our pupils’ needs are met, through providing a calm, safe and stimulating learning environment, and individualised, engaging learning opportunities, so that each pupil can achieve their best.

We work in partnership with parents, families, carers, health colleagues and Manchester LA to identify and work towards aspirational goals for every pupil.

The vocational learning offer for pupils at North Ridge is a particular strength. If you get chance to pop into our café (Cup & Cake) or shop (2nd Handmade) I certainly recommend it! We also have a catering business, a pie making business and an Etsy shop (NorthRidgeGiftCo).

At North Ridge we are constantly seeking to do even better. We achieved the Gold Standard Rights Respecting School Award in 2018, were judged Outstanding by Ofsted in 2014 and 2018, and in 2023 achieved the National Autism Society Gold Award.

We share a wealth of information about our school through this accessible website. I hope you enjoy learning about the school and discovering more about the opportunities on offer to our pupils. Should you have any questions or require further information, please contact the school office on 0161 553 0200.
